Metropica
I took a walk through Honolulu, Hawai'i and I was struck by the disconnected elements of the world around me. The beautiful skyline called me from a distance, but the reality up close was a harsh, disharmonious juxtaposition of technology and nature, artificial and organic, bland and lush. I tried to imagine a world where all these contrasts exist in unity, flowing into one another. In my drawing, I tried to capture motion and time in my drawing, depicting some things as static and solid, and others as mere blurs of memory. My piece is both an abstraction and an idealization of Honolulu, present and future.

The Fox and the Girl
This piece was actually a commission I did for a good friend’s good grandmother, meant to be placed on a mug. It was based off of her memory of being a little girl and stumbling upon a dead fox that looked alive. She vividly remembered reaching over as the wind blew the fox’s fur against her fingers.
